We are currently seeking a Building Design Technologist to join the Company.
We provide design services including emergency structural stabilization direction to contractors, building permit designs for repair of existing buildings and analysis of other structures governed by the Ontario Building Code.
Reporting to the Director of Forensics and Structural Design, this is an excellent employment opportunity for the qualified person to complement our engineering services.
The core responsibilities of our technologists include, but are not limited to,:
• black line drawings preparation
• review, edit, and mark up drawings for engineers as required
• draw construction details and dimensioning of floor plans
• detail building envelope
• prepare construction documents for building permit applications
• coordinate and review design drawings as required
• knowledge of building systems and details
• knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
• coordination with building officials
Our ideal candicate will:
• have successfully completed an accredited Canadian Architectural Technology programme
• BCIN qualification an asset
• exhibit a working knowledge and experience with the Ontario Building Code
• have obtained a high level of skill with Cad programmes
• be experienced in Adobe, Photoshop, Microsoft suite
• possess solid organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making, and communication skills
• demonstrate strong written and oral communication in English; French would be an asset
• react well under pressure and deadlines
McEwen manages sites across Ontario and this position may require extensive travel, scheduled on-call response, and occasional overnight posting. A personal vehicle is required.
At times security clearance is necessary in order to gain access to a job site and so a Criminal Background Check may be conducted.
