Graduate Engineer - Electrical

We are currently seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our team.

We provide design services including emergency structural stabilization direction to contractors, building permit designs for repair of existing buildings and analysis of other structures governed by the Ontario Building Code.

Reporting to the Director of Forensics and Structural Design, this is an excellent employment opportunity for the qualified person to complement our investigation services.

Under the direction of a Senior Engineer you will be taught to conduct investigations and prepare  technical reports for submission to clients and the regulating authorities.

The core responsibilities of our electrical engineers include, but are not limited to,:

  • electrical and fire related investigations, projects and tasks including the development and implementation of technical reviews and field investigations 
  • investigations of electrical distribution, electrical transformers, photovoltaic installations, small motor and appliance failures and firesiand fires
  • perform site examinations in relation to loss/failure
  • test operation of electrical systems and equipment
  • plans and specifications reviews with respect to relevant guidelines, codes and other regulations
  • assistance in developing and preparing engineer drawings and simulations from field measurements, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data 
  • cost control and budget management
  • computer analysis 

The ideal candidate will;

  • have successfully completed a degree in Electrical Engineering accredited by the Professional Engineers of Ontario. A forensic component would be an asset
  • be willing to learn and evolve as your professional career develops
  • demonstrate strong written and oral communication in English; French would be an asset.
  • possess exceptional communication skills
  • react well under pressure

McEwen manages sites across Ontario and this position requires extensive travel, scheduled on-call response, and occasional overnight posting. A valid Ontario driver's licence and use of a personal vehicle is required.

There may also be times when security clearance is necessary in order to gain access to a job site and so a criminal background check may be conducted.
